Elizabeth Bowen was an Irish novelist and short story writer. Elizabeth Dorothea Cole Bowen was born on 7 June 1899. When her father becomes ill she and her mother move to England. Her mother died in 1912 after this her aunt grew her. After some time she feels that she is interested in writing. She published her first book which is a short story book Encounters (1923). In 1923 she married Alan Cameron. In 1937, she became a member of the Irish Academy of Letters. Her other best books are The Hotel (1927), The Last September (1929), Friends and Relations (1931) and The House in Paris (1935).
