Billy Budd Summary

Billy-BuddThe main character is Billy Budd he is a seaman. He is working in  HMS Bellipotent. When the British navy was threatened by Revolutionary French Republic’s military ambitions. He is on another ship “The Rights of Man” and then his former ship moves out Budd shouts. Billy takes part in the war against French. He is selected to manage the crew, He is selected because he has charismatic qualities. Billy looks younger than his actual age. The writer describes himself as a physical example for others.

The novel is adapted for a stage in 1951 by  Louis O. Coxe. Peter Ustinov produce a film based on this novel in 1962.
